To enter the competition you had to nominate your top three favourite wines.
Thank you for the hundreds of entries. The most popular wines in order of appeal are:
1 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz
2 Moss Wood Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon
3 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
The Penfolds Bin 389 was a clear winner. There must be a case for Penfolds Bin 398 to be lifted to national treasure status!
Such a darling wine that has brought such pleasure to so many, for so long,
should be protected from gray faceless corporations.
The second place Moss Wood Cabernet and the third place Wynns Cabernet were clearly separated from the bunch.
4 Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz
5 Cullen Margaret River Cabernet Merlot
6 D’Arenberg The Dead Arm McLaren Vale Shiraz
6 Rockford Basket Press Barossa Valley Shiraz
6 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Shiraz
9 Henschke Keyneton Estate Barossa Valley Red Blend
9 Howard Park Leston Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon
9 Orlando St Hugo Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon
9 Penfolds Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon
9 Penfolds St Henri Shiraz
9 Penfolds Grange Shiraz
9 Seppelt Chalambar Victorian Shiraz
9 Vasse Felix The Heystbury Margaret River Red Blend
The fourth place Penfolds Bin 28 and the fifth place Cullen Cabernet were also clearly separated from the pack.
The next two placings saw, understandably, some bunching of rankings. For your interest
