Hans Lang and Marianne Kempf from Gala Restaurant in Perth have taken up the Challenge. This awesome team have been delivering world class fine dining to fussy jetsetters for decades.

The team from Gala have taken up the Obscene Indulgence Challenge. Now the hard work begins. Hans has agreed to share the steps and the “work in progress” with us. Target date is February or March 2007.

We want menus that are the ultimate obscene indulgence, huge dollars for a wine and food experience that will never be forgotten.

Here is the deal

This not a competition, there is no judging

Sterling Wine Auctions & Exchange promises to help fill the seats, make it happen and provide the wines befitting such an occasion.

We are aiming for a set menu package for 8 to 10 with a plate cost of $1,000.

Budget does not really matter, aim the food at $500 per head leaving $500 per head for the wine. If you need to go higher, go for it! What makes the difference? Rare and super fresh? Chinese like the fish alive in the kitchen. Fly in the ingredients. Truffles, Caviar (there is legal stuff), 200 year old balsamic Vinegar, Foie gras, doesn’t matter, do the stuff you have always dreamed of but could never justify. If the stock or the sauce takes a week to make, Go for it!

Lets be outrageous. Within reason. Do we need to employ live musicians or exotic dancers? Should we be sitting on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge span? Maybe a guest appearance from an Iron chef? Go over the top, lets try and make it happen. The wine? Sterling has many customers with too much money, too many legend wines and no opportunity to drink them and no reason to sell.

There are 1945 Moutons, 1961 Petrus, 1978 Romanee Conti’s, 1967 Y’quems and buckets of 1971 and 1976 Penfolds Grange out there just waiting for a fitting occasion.

The owners might want to join the table as a special guest or book the 10 seats themselves!
