Château d’Yquem 1965 94p
Tasted in April 2005. Only microscopic 5% of the
harvest was declared worthy d’Yquem, but those grapes, which came
through this severe selection, were obviously of impressive quality.
Dark amber. In the nose, it had pure botrytis and appeared very intense
and deep. Sophisticated and nuanced in every corner. This wine was
stunningly fine and a big positive surprise. It should be good enough to
keep for another 20 years.
