Sterling Dream Wine for 2007
By a mile, the Penfolds Grange 1990
The 2007 Dream wine winner Chris Dimou from Belmore in Sydney.
Hi Lynton,
wow that is excellent!... i have never won anything before so this is a great surprise. I was finalising my bid list when i saw the Dream Wine promo and decided to send a couple of emails, late one night.
Thank you to the Sterling team, especially John whom i bombard with my queries (& often request pics) on lots im watching and bidding on. As for pics i rarely get in front of the camera and choose to take the pics instead, however this was taken at a Krug-athon earlier in the year & im pictured with my other dream wine vintage Krug!!
Thanks again & look forward to the wine.
Chris
Penfolds 1990 Grange was in a class of its own polling more votes than just about all the other dream wines combined.
Not surprising, the 1976 and 1983 were the only other real contenders, head and shoulders above the pack.
The following list shows the field, the field of glory. Imagine presiding over such an illustrious gathering.

This is one of those dying wish scenarios. What would it be?
The dream experience you just have to re-live?
Make you choices, enter as many times as you like,
Maybe Sterling will make you dreams come true.
What will it be?
An all time Classic?
The 1963 Peppermint Pattie? The revered Treasure Chest series 1949 –1956, The iconic 1945 Mouton Rothschild? 1921 Chateau d Y’quem? 1985 DRC Romanee Conti; 1982 Chateau Petrus? The 1976 Penfolds Grange?
Maybe it would be a marker to re-live a most special event.
The Kaiser Stulhl Cold Duck that sealed your first romance,
The 1976 Redmans Cabernet that Gandad saved to toast your 21st Birthday
The bottle of De Bortoli Noble One 1982 that proved another great reason for you true love to accept your hand in Marriage
How about your first bottle of Grange, that 1986 classic you wasted on mates more interested in beer and the footy on TV
Surely the unforgettable 1985 Dom Perrigon Champagne that wet the head of you first born
Maybe an Unsung hero or a faded and forget great?
The 1980 Moss Wood Special Reserve that proved to the world that WA could make the grade.
The 1967 Seppelt Sparkling Burgundy, one of the finest examples of the Greatest Wine Gift Australian has made to the wine World.
Rare and special Antique blend of Chambers Rosewoods best Fortified. A legendary remedy for all woes and the prefect wonder for a world tired of false prophets and flim flam pretenders.
How about the best of Vat 47? Maybe the 1984? Murray Tyrrells stunning achievement, a Chardonnay phenomena that amazes and converts the toughest sceptics
The most amazing thing you have ever had in your mouth?
Surrendering to absolute please and sensual overload is always a good fall back position.
Was it the 1994 Yalumba Octavius, The 1998 Greenock Creek Roennfelt Road? The 2002 Jim Barry Armagh? The 1997 Wild Duck Creek Duck Muck or maybe the 2000 Peel estate Zinfandel. Wines with so must power and force that any resistence is an exercise in denial.
Is that the dream experience you just have to re-live?
Make you choices, enter as many times as you like,
Maybe Sterling will make you dreams come true.
