The 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Bin 407 displays a saturated ruby/purple color as well as classic aromas of cedar and cassis, medium to full body, considerable fruit, sweet tannin, and adequate acidity. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.

Medium-deep crimson. Black cherry, blackcurrant, dark chocolate hint marzipan/vanilla aromas with a touch of tobacco leaf. Richly concentrated palate with gorgeously dense cassis, blackberry pastille, dark chocolate flavours, supple chocolaty tannins, superb mid-palate viscosity. Finishes chocolaty firm with liquorice/tobacco notes. "Surprisingly youthful, boasting rich mature compact blackberry black cherry notes, a robust tannin structure and heat at the finish. There's a hint of audacity: an uninhibited confidence. A rare gem of the 1990s." (AM) In a beautiful spot, but should continue to develop. 14% alc Coonawarra (33%), Padthaway, Bordertown, McLaren Vale 12 months' maturation in 12% new French oak, 11% new American oak, and 77% in seasoned American and French oak.
