Torbreck RunRig 2010
David Powell's perfect swan song at Torbreck? The beginning of a new Torbreck era? Will RunRig ever be the same? Only time and future RunRigs will tell.
Penfolds St. Henri 2010
Most Aussie wine lovers know how special a well-aged Grange can be, but St. Henri is a true under-the-radar treasure (not to mention a comparative bargain) in great vintages such as 2010.

Henschke Mount Edelstone 2010
The new release of Mount Edelstone matched Hill of Grace this year in terms of quality. Although it was admittedly the 2009 vintage of HoG pitted against the incredible 2010 vintage of Mt Edelstone, given Prue Henschke's diligent improvements over the years to this remarkable vineyard in its own right, don't be surprised if Cyril Henschke's first single vineyard wine starts to out-trump its more famous sibling in the great vintages to come.
Spoiler Alert: Here are three top-picks from my forthcoming NZ report for The Wine Advocate. I'm not even sure that these are in fact the top scoring wines of the report, but they are the wines that I most vividly remember and would personally love to drink again and again.
Bell Hill 2011 Chardonnay North Canterbury
In my soon to be published NZ Report the tasting note for this Kiwi rising superstar's new release ends thus: "Once again, Bell Hill: Wow!"
Pyramid Valley 2012 Angel Flower Pinot Noir North Canterbury
As one of Bell Hill's few winery neighbors, Pyramid Valley's Claudia and Mike Weersing have equally ensured that the benchmark has been set very high in the sleepy little North Canterbury town of Waikari.
Man o' War 2012 Bellerophon Syrah Viognier
A brand new wine from precocious relative newcomer Man o' War, this Waiheke Island Syrah with just a splash of Viognier, 20% whole cluster fermentation and all the grace and styling of a great Pinot blew me away during my visit there in October. With only 500 cases produced and nothing made in 2013, this is one to secure early before it gets "discovered".
