Drink: Drink now
Medium-deep crimson. Dark chocolate, roasted hazelnut touch brambly wine with marzipan notes. Some oxidised notes. Sweet dark chocolate, chinotto, hint leather polish, marzipan, graphite earthy, flavours and fine grainy touch leafy tannins. Gentle firm finish. "Palate is fading with a reticent tannin structure. Finish does not linger, but provides a sort of wistful ending." (FW) From a great Penfolds vintage, but the wine is beginning to break up. 13.5% alc Coonawarra (54%), McLaren Vale, Padthaway, Clare Valley, Barossa Valley 12 months' maturation in 90% American oak (20% new, 70% seasoned) and 10% new French oak.
