The purple-colored 2006 Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 12 months in 15% new French and American oak hogsheads. The nose sports an aromatic array of cedar, allspice, violets, and black currant. Slightly compact in the mouth, it has tasty flavors but a slightly pinched personality. It may be that 2-3 years of cellaring will fill it out but that is not a certainty.

Medium-deep crimson. Intense black cherry, blackcurrant, black liquorice, dark chocolate aromas with espresso, leafy, sous bois notes. Beautifully balanced wine with ample inky black cherry, cassis flavours, plentiful grainy tannins, lovely mid-palate volume/viscosity and well-balanced fresh mineral acidity. "Scents of mushroom, pine, prune, and spices are understated, but with a swirl of the glass, they commence a solemn hymn. This wine emanates composure and potency, poised yet forceful, with a concluding note of sophisticated salinity." (AM) 14.5% alc Robe (36%), Coonawarra, McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale 12 months' maturation in 24% new French oak, 15% new American oak and 61% in seasoned American and French oak.
