Drink 2015–2025
Medium brick colored with a garnet core, the 1991 Grange has a wonderful perfume of black and red fruits preserves, prunes, figs and plum preserves with suggestions of licorice and dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, rich, powerful and spicy right through the long finish, this Grange still has loads of life and should cellar for another 10-20 years.

Medium-deep crimson. Lovely perfumed star anise, chamomile, redcurrant, strawberry, grilled nut, mocha, liquorice, hint roasted walnut aromas. Well concentrated, smooth, velvety palate with abundant dark chocolate/ panforte, dark berry fruits, slinky/chocolaty tannins and persistent fresh crisp acidity. "This easily relates to the great wines of Hermitage. The pepper and spice notes are thrilling and perfectly balanced on stunning, cool, earthy foundations." (MJ) Drinking beautifully, but should develop further. 13.5% alc "Elegant, fresh and stylish with meaty red fruit plumminess despite some light molasses treacle notes. Creamy, round, supple and velvety with plenty of vigour and persistence. A beautifully balanced Grange of great excellence; a worthy sparring partner to the more famous 1990."
