Robert Parker Score: 90 points

Reviewer: Robert M. Parker, Jr. — 10031 Aug 1995

Drink 2003–2016

Production: 10,960 cases of 6 Blend: 90% Shiraz/10% Cabernet Sauvignon
A youthful opaque purple color and a tight but promising nose of jammy cassis with a touch of prunes and smoky oak, are followed by a backward, full-bodied, typical Grange that requires 5-6 more years of cellaring. This huge, lavishly-oaked, unevolved wine is an outstanding effort with 20 years of aging potential.
Note: The production figures shown are for twelve bottle cases unless otherwise noted.

Drink: Drink now 2038

Medium-deep crimson. Intense blackberry, stone fruit, wax polish aromas with liquorice notes. Supple and sweet fruited wine with ample blackberry, dark chocolate, wax polish flavours and lovely slinky/ graphite tannins. Finishes inky and minerally with Claret-firm/muscular tannins. Still holding well, but best to drink now. 13.8% alc "Black cherry, choc brownie, dark earth and cordite. A tight, sinewy, longline Grange, one built on a firm frame of fine coffee-bag tannins." (NR) 90% Shiraz, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon Kalimna Vineyard (Barossa Valley), Barossa Valley, and McLaren Vale
