Drink 2002–2018
Production: 19,420 cases of 6 Blend: 91% Shiraz/9% Cabernet Sauvignon
A full-bodied, youthful, smoky, overripe cassis-scented wine with massive body, and copious quantities of smoky, vanillin-scented new oak, this moderately tannic, juicy, opulent, muscular Grange requires 5-7 years of cellaring. It should last for 20+ years.
Note: The production figures shown are for twelve bottle cases unless otherwise noted.

Medium-deep crimson. Intense red cherry, cassis, crème caramel, roasted coffee aromas with liquorice, spice aromas. Layered and deeply set with concentrated red cherry, blackcurrant pastille, toffee, espresso flavours, plentiful fine grippy tannins and well-balanced mocha, vanilla, roasted chestnut, touch bourbon notes. Finishes chocolaty and long with strawberry nuances. "The tannins will protect this wine for many years, but catch this vintage earlier rather t h a n l a t e r t o w a ll o w in t h e f a b u l o u s fruit." (MJ) S t ill h o l d i n g u p v e r y w e l l. 13 . 8 % a l c "Very hot year with rain in early March. Blackish crimson. Comfortable, toasty nose. Rich and sumptuous. Really glorious, rich and deep-flavoured, with heady layers. Not unlike a Bordeaux 1989. Complete." (JR) 91% Shiraz, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon Kalimna Vineyard (Barossa Valley), Barossa Valley, and McLaren Vale The last vintage labelled as Grange Hermitage; future vintages are released as "Grange". While not considered a standout vintage at release, its inherent Grange bloodlines and longevity have emerged over time. A classic dark horse.
