Robert Parker Score: 88 points
Reviewer: Robert M. Parker, Jr. — 14330 Oct 2002
Drink 2002–2006
The 1998 Shiraz St. Henri is a delicious dark ruby-colored effort with a sweet nose of jammy black fruits intermixed with herbs, earth, and pepper. Perfumed, medium-bodied, and succulent, it will drink well for 3-4 years.

Medium-deep crimson. Intense blackberry, chinotto, panforte, wax polish aromas. Firmly structured but ample in body with generous blackberry, chinotto, roasted chestnut, liquorice flavours, muscular/ graphite/"touch leafy Claret-like" (JA) tannins and fresh long mineral/saline acidity. Aniseed notes at the finish. A renowned vintage, but some variability beginning to emerge. Best to drink now or soon. 14% alc "A really wild and dark nose with leather, tobacco, liquorice, smoke and dark chocolate. Thick, full and forward, this feels insanely youthful and tense, with slightly angular, firm and grippy tannins." (GH) 92% Shiraz, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley (64%) Padthaway, McLaren Vale
