Robert Parker Score: 97+ points

Reviewer: Lisa Perrotti-Brown — 21127 Feb 2014

Drink 2015–2030

Very deep purple-black in color and showing an attractive nose of warm blackcurrants, blueberries and licorice with a complex undercurrent of mocha, cedar, menthol and grilled meat, the full-bodied 2010 St Henri Shiraz is relatively rich in the mouth, offering tons of fruit structured by firm, fine tannins and refreshing acid. It finishes with great persistence. Drink it 2015 to 2030+.

Penfolds — The Rewards of Patience, Ninth Edition

Drink: Drink now 2050

Medium-deep crimson. Roasted coffee, espresso blackberry spice bay leaf aromas. Inky deep wine with generous blackberry cassis espresso flavours, fine chocolaty, touch leafy textures, some chinotto notes. Finishes muscular firm and tight, with pronounced quartz acidity, but perfectly ripe, beautifully balanced and developed. "A wine with lovely flow and forward momentum." (NR) Drinking brilliantly well now, with some years of evolution ahead. An all-time great vintage. 14.5% alc "An exquisite vintage with pointillist poise and precision. Perfectly ripe black fruits with perfectly polished tannins and a lingering finish. This is all silk and satin with lovely grace and transparency." (NB) 100% Shiraz Barossa Valley (60%), McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Wrattonbully, Clare Valley The St Henri style, with its tannic structure and nerve, has a familiar Rhône-like shape. With no new oak, the fruit comes across as more Syrah than Shiraz with its pure fruit definition and tapenade-like notes. Jérémy Cukierman
