Reviewer: Lisa Perrotti-BrownFebruary, 2012
Penfolds' newest bin number, the 2008 Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz is the first vintage of this wine. Very deep garnet-purple colored, it has intense aromas of crushed black currants and warm blackberries with underlying hints of Chinese dried plums, salami / Parma ham, soy, stewed tea and yeast extract. Medium to full bodied, the palate is richly fruited with an abundance of berry and savory flavors supported by very crisp acid and a medium to firm level of finely grained tannins. The finish is long and harmonious. Approachable now, it should cellar to 2021+.
