Drink 2003–2003

The dark plum-colored 1996 Shiraz is an excellent bargain in the chunky red wine category. It offers attractive, moderately intense, smoky, blackberry, and earthy aromas. Although there is a bit too much acidity, it is difficult to suppress Shiraz's attractive red and black fruits, spice, and peppery characteristics. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
