Penfolds — The Rewards of Patience, Ninth Edition

Drink: Drink now 2035

Deep crimson. Intense blackcurrant, mulberry, dark plum, mocha, hint bush garrigue, sage aromas with liquorice notes. Well-concentrated inky blackcurrant, dark plum, minty flavours, fine loose-knit grainy/al dente tannins, underlying mocha, vanilla oak and fresh mineral/saline acidity. Finishes cedar firm. "Some softly fading florals and leaf litterfall, a scattering of dark berries and some freshly turned earth. A firm, minerally spine keeping the wine taut and disciplined." (NR) 14.5% alc "Pumped up and forward, mouth-watering and grippy/powdery with cool juicy blueberries, damsons, slate and cola. A power surge of tension and tannins gives outline but doesn't constrict the bitter dark chocolaty minty tones. This is so juicy, appealing and utterly moreish." (GH) Block 10 and Block 20 100% new French oak hogsheads.
