DOG POINT Pinot Noir 2004 | Marlborough | 1 BOTTLE | AU$50-70 | AUD $ 32 |
Robert Parker Score: 89 points

The 2004 Pinot Noir has very good intensity on the menthol-tinged nose with broody dark-berried fruits. Good definition. The palate is well balanced with some lovely crisp dark mulberry and briary flavors coming through. Not a huge weight or structure, but the off-dry finish has a sense of reserve that would lend it well to gamey cuisine. Excellent.
James Healy and Ivan Sutherland continue to produce some wonderful Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, their flagship Section 94 seeming to appear on just about every wine-list of any self-respecting restaurant in New Zealand. Ivan opened vintages that I did not taste on my previous trip to Marlborough as well as recent releases.
