Drink 2022–2040
The 2019 Tinto (Quinta do Vesúvio), the estate red, is a 51/45 blend of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca with a dollop of Tinta Amarela, all aged for 14 months in French oak (80% new). It comes in at 14.1% alcohol. As compared to its little brother, the Pombal, which was quite fresh in its own right, this was sourced from higher-altitude vines. It has more bite to the finish in terms of pure power but also more crispness. It's elegant and refined. The flavor profile at the moment is a little dominated by wood, but that will get better in time. It should age well, so there is no rush. This has become a consistent and excellent bottling.
