The 2012 Stevens Road Cabernet Sauvignon has notes of of pie crust and blackberry pastille, layers of very fine tannin (although more tannic than the silken 2011), raspberry compote, red licorice and brilliant intensity of flavor. Exotic spice creeps into the finish—the likes of sumac, freshly grated nutmeg and oven-roasted strawberries (with star anise and rosemary).
