Drink 2022–2029
The Cornerstone range highlights the various differences between vineyard areas in Margaret River. Wilyabrup, in the "middle," where this fruit is sourced, is widely regarded as being one of the great growing areas within Margaret River, and is where the Juniper Estate Vineyard is located (planted in 1973). The 2020 vintage was warm and compacted (from first pick to last, many vignerons were home in time for Easter—almost unheard of around here) and has been responsible for a tranche of high-quality wines. The 2020 Cornerstone Wilyabrup Chardonnay is no exception. In the mouth, the wine is concentrated and savory, structured by textural phenolics and laced by saline acidity. A very smart wine, it lingers in the mouth long after it has gone.
