The 2015 Spring Farm Block 18 Riesling is 10 years from its harvest date today, and the wine leads with a toasty nose redolent of torched lemongrass, tatami mat, white chocolate, hints of clove and caraway. This is followed by notes of soft vanilla biscuit and almond meal/almondine. The south-facing vineyard (cool in the Southern Hemisphere, and this block was picked before Block 114) is planted at 497 meters in elevation and atop a soil structure comprised of brown loamy topsoil above a thin calcrete duricrust, underlain by pale gray-green weathered siltstone, clay and gray calcareous siltstone. The Wolta Wolta Riesling is also sourced from this block. 12.3% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
