SWINNEY Farvie Grenache 2020 | Frankland River | 1 BOTTLE | AU$90-100 | AUD $ 88 |
Robert Parker Score: 95 points

Drink 2024–2038
The 2020 Farvie Grenache leads with goji berry and mulberry, raspberry pip and iron, layers of iodine, crushed shell, a hint of star anise/anise etc., and bucketloads of gravely tannin. This is a more obvious release of this wine, and perhaps it's what people expect of this beautiful Frankland River region, that is to say, textural, sunshiny and obvious. But it is the tannins through the finish that reveal the pedigree of the vineyard, and it is this part of the wine that I find to be the most alluring and complex. Tannins in red wine have long been winemaker Rob Mann's skill, or so I think, and it is pleasing to see them emerge with such confidence in this vintage. Smart. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
