Drink 2014–2022
Aged 13 months in old American oak hogsheads, the deep garnet-purple colored 2012 Kalimna Bin 28 Shiraz opens with a nose of baked blackberries, mulberries and crème de cassis with hints of licorice, baking spices and a touch of tar. Full-bodied with firm, rounded tannins and tons of fruit, it concludes with a very spicy, long finish.

Deep crimson. Dark chocolate, espresso, mulberry, black cherry, flinty aromas. Dense chocolaty wine abundant black cherry, blackberry praline flavours, sinuous velvety tannins and well-integrated mineral acidity. "Dark fruit sweetness hemmed in by bitter chocolate/cocoa notes and fine, neatly interlocked tannins. Some woody spice. A wine of restraint finesse." (NR) Claret-firm at the finish. Very good volume, richness, and torque. 14.5% alc McLaren Vale (22%), Wrattonbully, Langhorne Creek, Barossa Padthaway, Mt Lofty Ranges 12 months' maturation in seasoned American oak hogsheads.
