Drink 2020–2030
A bit cedary and mossy, the 2006 Cabernet / Shiraz Bin 389 is going through a chunky, sullen phase. Dark and brooding, I think it needs another couple of years to come around. Right now, it's full-bodied and muscular but not overly expressive, showing just hints of cassis and plum, with sturdy tannins on the finish.

Deep crimson. A classical Bin 389 vintage. Fragrant dark cherry, praline, hint liquorice aromas with undertones. Deep-set dark cherry, dark chocolate, liquorice all-sorts flavours, ample firm chalky/grippy/ cedar tannins and underlying marzipan, roasted chestnut notes. Finishes grippy with aniseed notes. A plume of tannin at the finish. Super density and torque. Brilliant wine. 14.5% alc "A more sinewy, sleek, expression with red berry fruits, panforte, espresso notes and some meatiness and red earth. Tightly with some leather and the fiery breath of the forge." (NR) 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Shiraz Barossa Valley (37%), Langhorne Creek, Coonawarra, McLaren Robe, Clare Valley
